Kenneth B. "Tim" Burrer, Sr., age 80, resident of Ganges, died Friday, March 1, 2013 surrounded by his loving family in Hospice House of Ashland following a short illness.

Born Oct. 5, 1932 in Plymouth to Hubert and Violet (Donnenwirth) Burrer he was a lifelong area resident. A 1950 graduate of Plymouth High School, he co-owned and operated Spring Hill Fruit Farm in Ganges since 1968 until his retirement.

Mr. Burrer was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Shelby, Shiloh Masonic Lodge #544 F&AM, and Ohio Fruit Growers. He was also a member of the first 6 man, Plymouth football team. He served as a Bloomingrove Twp. Trustee and also was a past president of the Richland County Farm Bureau. He was instrumental in forming the Cass, Bloomingrove, and Shiloh fire district where he had served as a volunteer firemen. Kenneth was a school bus driver for Shelby city schools and a former employee of Shelby Salesbook for 25 years.

A lifelong farmer, Kenneth also enjoyed, spending time with his family, gardening, traveling, going to antique tractor shows, and spending his mornings with his buddies at the "McDonalds' coffee club".

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane (Cashman) Burrer, whom he wed on Sept. 1, 1950; four sons, Kenneth, Jr. (Charlene) Burrer of Shiloh, Mark (Pat) Burrer of Shelby, Samuel (Martha) Burrer of Willard, and Jeffrey (Laura) Burrer of Shelby; one daughter, Susan Franklin of Plymouth; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Alton Franklin and grandson, Kevin Franklin.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Russel Yoak will officiate with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial expressions may be made to the Cass, Bloomingrove Fire District, 11 N.
