Merlene M. Evans Obituary


Merlene M. "Peep" Kidwell Evans, age 73, resident of Myrtle Dr., Shelby, died Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Hospice House of North Central Ohio, Ashland following a brief illness.

Born April 10, 1934 in Shelby to Clyde L. and Helen F. (Heiland) Henry she had been a Shelby resident all her life. A 1952 graduate of Shelby High School, Peep had worked at Shelby Sales book and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed geneology, and watching sports, especially Ohio State, the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. She loved spending time with family and friends, having never met a stranger.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Kidwell and son, Steve Kidwell, both of Shelby; one brother, Donald J. "Jim" (Janice) Henry of Shelby; one half brother, Harold Henry of Shelby; her step-children, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orandged Evans in 1989; father, Clyde L. Henry in 1937; mother, Helen F. Fries in 2006; step-father, Clarence T. Fries in 1980, two half brothers, Robert and John Henry, and half sister, Dorothy Burnison.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, August 31, from the Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. Father Nicholas Cunningham will officiate with interment in Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM where a scripture service will be held at 7:45 PM.
