Orandged Evans age 61 resident of 18 Myrtle Dr. died Monday afternoon in Mansfield General Hospital following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 3, 1927 in Denton, Kentucky to the late John and Hazel Marcum Evans he had been a Shelby resident 20 years.Mr. Evans had been employed at Empire-Detroit Steel in Mansfield for 22 years retiring in 1976. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict serving with the US Army.
Survivors include his wife Merlene (Peep); four daughters, Mrs. Gary (Barb) Gallagher and Mrs. Ed (Saundra) Klap both of Castle Rock, Colorado, Mrs. James (Dale) Rhodes of Belleville, Ohio, Mrs. Richard (Tracey) Frank of Loudonville; one son Orandged Evans Jr. of Mansfield; one stepdaughter Sherry Kidwell of Shelby; one stepson Steven Kidwell of Shelby; one sister Okla Caudill of Mansfield; one brother Clayton of Ashland, Kentucky; one half-sister Delores Sexton of Grayson, Kentucky; two half-brothers John of Grayson, Kentucky and Wade of Southpoint, Ohio; Eleven grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents Mr. Evans was preceded in death by two half brothers Bob and Ed and his stepmother Mag Evans.
Funeral services will be held 2:30pm Thursday from the Barkdull Funeral Home, Reverend Monty Perry of First Freewill Baptist Church will officiate with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home Wednesday from 7-9 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emphysema Foundation and left at the funeral home.
